Welcome to this section where I share stories about my mom’s family.
My mom is a family of 10 siblings (9 sisters and 1 brother)! According to her, they were actually 14 but 4 of them died at birth. Her family is originally from Lucban, Quezon. During the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, they escaped by walking through the fields just like the scene in the Sound of Music where the Von Trap family had to escape from their enemies. For a little bit of Philippine History, the Japanese occupied the Philippines from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. My mom was very young then so she doesn’t remember how they finally arrived at Meycauayan, Bulacan where the family established their roots.
My grandfather started the very 1st tailoring business in Meycauayan where he specialized in making Barong Tagalog, a formal attire for men. Back then, the well-to-do had to travel to Manila for their tailoring needs. Once they discovered him, they no longer had to go that far. This is how he was able to provide for his 10 kids.
Lots of family stories to tell so come back for more…
